Lydia's school puts on a talent show every year to benefit the charity "Never Give Up Ever". 100% of the money raised by this charity goes directly to families of chronically ill children. Yes, a very good cause. At the first mention of the talent show a few weeks ago, Lydia adamantly declared she would participate and share her talent for the school and the cause. We were all for it, she has the performer in her blood on all sides, after all. 

Lydia and three class friends planned a hula hoop show. They rehearsed a few times, chose a "uniform", argued over musical selection... Lydia attended the first rehearsal with three song choices; Red Hot Chili Peppers "Tell Me Baby", Guns N Roses "This I Love" and Dio "Rainbow in the Dark". Of course, it can't and doesn't get better than that AND I promise you she had her own opinion on this which was only slightly influenced by her parents. Alas, all three were shot down by the rest of the team whose selection of songs was on the other end of the spectrum. The girls met in the middle which is universally known as anything Madonna recorded in the 80's.

I tell you what, this evening was outta hand. Chandler and I both laughed our heads off, cried tears of joy and sadness, just sat overwhelmed by these little kids performing acts they pretty much created on their own. It was uncontrollable in such great ways all over the place. I wish I thought to take pictures of some of the other acts to demonstrate the breadth of ideas and ages (Kindergarten through 5th). There was a unicyclist, magic show, dancing, singing, skits written and performed, first grade drummer and singer, Bob Marley tribute on guitar and vocals, violin, piano, karate... Absolutely a blast.

The only other act I managed to get a shot of, and I think you can all figure out why I HAD to commemorate the scene... This was called "The Great King Battle for Elysium".
