Making Salad, Other Stuff and Meeting Sadie

SO, we had an eventful weekend!

Mama and Daddy went away to Portland while Lydia stayed at home enjoying alone time with MooMoo. This was Lydia's very first day and night away from both her parents and it was beautiful. She only whimpered some when it came to sleeping times and then just fell asleep. The two girls went to the park a lot, sang and played music and played, played, played. Lydia did a lot of climbing and acrobatics, she's very strong. A great milestone for the family. We only have pictures of our time on the boat in Portland, and will try to get some Lydia pics from MooMoo. 

Lydia... wakes up so sweetly. She reaches and stretches for you and hugs for a while before jumping into toddler FIFTH gear.

ALWAYS in the kitchen with you. Lydia asks "What you makin'?" and then says "I wanna hep.". So we hand her something reasonable and away she goes. The other day she made a salad and also a bowl of salt, pepper and garlic salt. Maybe a combined spice to consider marketing.

I don't know why this is, but I find Lydia so charming and interesting when we're at the table. Maybe because we're still and able to really see each other, but she cracks me up and makes me think. 

She is a true recliner. She likes to have her feet up... even when eating, it appears. Definitely to be discouraged by Mama, don't worry.

And then she just sometimes looks out the window enjoying and noticing her world around her, pointing out anything she takes a shine to.

OH LORD!  Jess and Steve introduced their little one to the world on Friday, August 22. She is Sadie Moon and I won't put her last name for privacy purposes, but it is all beauty. She is so sweet and lovely already. Lydia met her and when we left the hospital through the next day when we made a second visit, Lydia asked "Where's Jess and Jess baby?". The beginning of a solid friendship! Welcome, Sadie. We can't wait to play our lives away.

We're BACK and SO Happy!

We've had too much fun between our last posting (pre-technical difficulty) and this one, so I'll have to just pick up here. I will say that our little family has had a lot of visitors, has made some visits and Mama and Lydia spent our first weekend away from each other (Dad took Lydia away to Vermont for a lovely, Summer weekend).

So this past weekend we spent in Plymouth at the Billington Sea with Heidi and Jim, Uncle Nick and Aunt Pink, MooMoo and our new "exchange friend" from Egypt, Youssef.

We, of course, had a lobster party, the three boys (Chaunce, Nick and Youssef ) - now referred to as the three men in the tub (guess which is which) went fishing, and Lydia spent time jumping around in tricked-out tents.

Generally speaking, Lydia is a nut. She hugs and kisses and says "no" and "mine" alot and loves to run and laugh.  She has started telling great stories only she can follow completely, but her Spanish and English have so equally advanced we're really excited.  Lydia does have a mind of her own, so every moment isn't complete laughter. She will brush her teeth every night, but sometimes will ABSOLUTELY NOT brush the front. Although we wash her face every morning and night, she still behaves as though this is the biggest sneak-attack of torture I've devised. She talks a lot about her booboos and if she hurts herself she'll tell you exactly where it happened.  It seems like she has developed a sense of pride. She gets embarrassed now, which is heart breaking. She'll fall and then look around to see if you noticed and then react with a pout. AND, she tells us when she has to go to the bathroom "pee pee" or "poop" and she will approach the potty, but not quite use it, yet.
