Lydia's Questions

We've entered that parental stage I feared so much. The intelligent, intuitive, curious questions for which I may not have the answer(s). Well, turns out it's OK to say, "I'm not exactly sure and I don't want to give you the wrong information, so let's look it up and find out together. Here is a conversation Lydia and I had recently.

Lydia: What makes the moon shine at night.
Me: It's reflecting the sun's light.
Lydia: Then what makes the sun shine bright.
Me: Heat, gas, fire...
Lydia: How do the trees help us breathe.
Me: Sigh, well, they breathe kinda like we do, but they breathe IN the gases in the air and the gas we breathe out, carbon monoxide, transform it into oxygen which they then breathe OUT so we can breathe THAT in...
(I'm thinking, come on I should be able to do better that this, when she quickly says...)
Lydia: Then where does carbon monoxide come from.

End scene.
