Spring Into Summer

Some things I adore about Lydia: 

She is in a singing mood. She sings everything. She sings herself to sleep, composing songs about her day, people she knows and nonsense all linked together. She has to ALWAYS be talking or communicating so we'll be in the car and, "Mama...", "Yes, love.", "... What's, what's, what ISSSSSSS... what's that house doing?". She thinks everything is "awesome". She seems to really love Garnet. She is so tough and strong-willed she makes "punishing" her a creative exercise. We were sitting at dinner, Grandma and Grandpa were with us, and Chandler had to "discipline" Lydia for something I forget. He began to list reasons WHY she should or shouldn't do whatever she was or wasn't doing. Chandler said, "First of all... And second of all..." and Lydia said, "NO. What's three?" as if the first two reasons weren't cutting it. Lydia pretends really well. She even pantomimes her situation, like if she is helping "the guys" out of being stuck in the mud, she actually pantomimes LIFTING them out with grunts and all.

Some things I adore about Garnet: 

He wakes up smiling and happy to see you. His smiles and interest are as genuine as the truest blue. He loves to connect with people, making eye contact, holding it and interacting. His entire body flails when he's excited. He watches Lydia with admiration, but also reserves his laughter for moments when she has REALLY performed something funny for him. He is strong, physically and mentally. His eyes truly reflect his thoughts (I THINK?). He has adorable, chunky legs. He laughs and laughs. He likes to cuddle. Garnet has a beautiful voice. He LOVES music.

Well, our last month all starts with a visit to our friends Brin, Maeve and Fiona. We spent a lovely day watching our 2 1/2 and 3-year-old girls dancing around each other, pushing and then sharing, talking splendidly and then whining into a cry. And magically they warmed up JUST as our royal coach was turning back into a pumpkin (mamas were tired). The beauty was, they really DID like each other and THEY had a wonderful day while we mamas had broken conversations and watched our 4 and 5 month olds rolling around happily together, just wait 'til they get older. 

MOTHER's DAY. The flowers were blooming, my husband was hammering something onto our house as usual (ONLY AFTER giving me the one gift I yearn for, a homemade card - beautiful) so we kids went to our park before heading to Uncle Nick and Aunt Melissa's for mother's day events. Lydia is such a strong climber, I am truly impressed. 

What?

Lydia and Uncle Nick played SOME game I'm not familiar with, but enjoyed the Springy weather and each other.

Our sweet girl knows how to appreciate some down time. Looks like she might be a festival gal in the making.

Aunt Melissa's Mama, Marilyn! She is so much fun. Lydia, too had a blast with her.

I know Chandler will hate these pictures because he kinda looks dopey, but who cares if he's a dopey dad? He's so happy to have a free moment with his two babies... My family. I sigh with happiness.

Lydia's accomplishments of note this month; eating an entire hoodsie and building the tallest tower.

Our children as they greet us each day. This is EXACTLY what it looks like without fail.

Angel?

Lydia spent a morning entertaining Garnet. He was behind the camera with me and she just talked and laughed and talked and laughed and so did he.



YES, Garnet had his first rice cereal May 23rd. He was hilarious. It was as if there was never enough cereal on the spoon, he yelled at it when it was empty, grabbed it to shovel and then spit it all up. A success all around.

We took a Memorial Day break from construction/painting/etc to host a bar-b-q. Miraculously, our plumber was still here when the guests arrived, but the toilet and sink in the new downstairs bathroom were in working order. Baptism.

Here's Uncle Rob, Dave and Daddy pics, but there was a strong showing of other friends and family; Aunt Cathy, James, Celia, Nick, Melissa, MooMoo, Merideth and Mia, Frank, Meghann and Frankie, and Greg our plumber had a drink, too.



OH NO! Lydia had her first (and I hope last) face plant... on a tennis court. These pictures are as if she is a pauper fleeing the famine, but she was certainly over it sooner than I.

Hey, Uncle Nicky!

Grandma and Grandpa and Lola! We had a wonderful time each of us and FINALLY Grandpa AND Grandma were given many kisses, hugs and game-playing-times with granddaughter. Lydia was genuinely excited to have them, she showed off all weekend and behaved mostly well. She's 2 1/2, right...





Being beautiful comes easy to these two dolls...
